September is synonymous with restarting, and Dorsal has decided to open the column "Dorsal Dealer of the Month" precisely with La Cicogna Materassi of Milan, the mattress specialists since 1952. This is a store that was recently awarded recognition as a Historic Store by the Lombardy region for its long business activity and that recently reorganized the display area dedicated to Dorsal products according to the new DEP (Dorsal Experience Point) concept.
Speaking to us about these important milestones is Luca Barbieri, the owner of the business together with his father Dario. "Ours is a historical reality in Milan," he told us, "so much so that the Region recently awarded us the Historic Shop plaque. In fact, our business started in 1952 with my grandfather Nardino, in the same space where we are now, in Piazzale Biancamano."
Great experience and over 70 years of history, but always keeping up with the times, in fact in January the Dorsal showroom was renovated.
"The new DEP is giving us great satisfaction," explained Luca, "because it helps us convey the uniqueness and value of Dorsal products through the signage and colors all body-impressed with 'green' as per the company's Green philosophy.". It is about 35 square meters all dedicated to Dorsal products where customers can touch the excellence of the Dorsal range.
"Our main clientele," Luca added, "for the most part, lives in downtown Milan, and is very attentive to finishes and the naturalness of fabrics and mattress covers. And Dorsal, in addition to having products that perform well in terms of ergonomics, is also a company that is very attentive to fine finishes: just think of the Merletto Veneziano mattress cover, for example. This is greatly appreciated by our Milanese clientele."
It is a relationship of mutual trust and cooperation between Dorsal and La Cicogna Materassi that has grown over time and has now lasted for more than 30 years. "We know the company well, and the cooperation has always been great," Barbieri commented, "We have also had the opportunity to attend all the training courses and see the production facilities in Treviso in person.
Over the years, Luca and Dario have collected many cases of people who, thanks to the advice of a Dorsal product, have significantly improved the quality of their rest.
"Recently," Luca specified, "two people to whom we recommended Elixir 5000 because they slept on their side, came back to the store to thank us for the advice. They both told us that now, in the morning as soon as they wake up, they are fine and no longer feel their shoulder ankylosed by a mattress that is too stiff, because Dorsal's gel contact layer gives precisely this feeling of comfort and well-being."
Among the qualities that the Barbers recognize in Dorsal is certainly the focus on ergonomics, but also the long collaboration with theA.I.Fi (Italian Physiotherapy Association) and the fact that Dorsal mattresses are recognized as medical devices.
"These are really important topics for us," explained the owner, "which, thanks in part to the new layout, are felt directly by our customers.
What sets La Cicogna Materassi of Milan apart is undoubtedly the great experience and knowledge of Dorsal products, but also the ability to meet special customer needs.
"My father Dario has great manual dexterity," he specified, "and he is specialized where there are special, antique, oversized beds: he manages to fit even the latest generation of Dorsal mattresses into special situations. It happens especially when there are elderly people who are fond of their bedroom furniture, and the fact that they can maintain them by replacing the mattress and often the bed base (with legs) reassures them a lot. My father manages to fit even "old" bed bases (with legs) and modern ergonomic mattresses into "old" rooms.
It is then important for Luca not only to offer customers the full range of Dorsal bed bases (with legs), mattresses and pillows, but also to be able to offer the new Simplicity beds.
"It is really important," he concluded, "for those who are looking for everything new, to have the possibility to offer Dorsal bed base, mattress but also bed: a complta and aesthetically very beautiful solution without having to compromise on ergonomics and well-being of the bed System.
La Cicogna Materassi is located at Piazzale Biancamano, 1 (at the end of Via Moscova, just outside Area C) in Milan. The store is open: Mondays from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
